Lineage
Prana BJJ was founded by Rick Young black belts, John Kennedy and Craig Ali, who have trained with professor Rick Young for 30+ years and 20+ years respectively.
Rick has been studying martial arts since 1975 and is an instructor under many of the world's greatest teachers such as Guro Dan Inosanto, Erik Paulson and Mauricio Gomes.
Rick is a multiple time world, European and Pan American champion in BJJ at masters level at both gi and nogi. He holds multiple black belts in martial arts, including judo and is currently a 4th degree black belt in BJJ. He is also a full instructor of Combat Submission Wrestling under Erik Paulson and was awarded his BJJ black belt in 2005 by Mauricio Gomes, father of Roger Gracie and one of Rolls Gracie’s 5 black belts. Rick proudly represents this lineage and we are proud to continue this at Prana BJJ and grateful to Rick for passing his knowledge and skills to us over the years.
